There is no right or wrong way to be a mom. However, there are certain values which most people expect to be instilled in children – like a respect for other people’s feelings and the law. Apart from that, you’re pretty much free to raise your children however you see fit.
These days, more moms than ever before are choosing to step away from the gender binary, and I for one applaud them for this decision. Children should be allowed to be children and express themselves in whichever way they see fit – a view which Megan Fox shares.
To see her praise her son Noah’s plump and feminine lips, check out the video below:
No longer the sex symbol that she once was, the actress has lived her life comparatively out of the limelight in recent years, but she’s still the subject of much interest, and a recent photograph of her sons at the beach has caused more than a little controversy online.
The 32-year-old shares three sons with her husband Brian Austin Green, and they have been photographed by the paparazzi on various occasions.
When photographed, the family have caused controversy before because of Noah’s decision to frequently wear dresses.
Dad Brian said to Hollywood Pipeline of his son’s clothing choices:
“If he wants to wear it, then he wears it.”
“It’s dresses or goggles or slippers, whatever. It’s his life. They’re not my clothes.”
“At five, that’s a time when he should be having fun. He’s not harming anyone [by] wearing a dress. So if he wants to wear a dress, good on him.
“The women in the church are only allowed to wear pants, you can’t wear dresses, you can’t wear make-up or jewellery, so it’s a really sort of oppressive environment to grow up in. But I sort of lean left of that now.”
Megan is pictured above with her youngest son Journey who was born in 2016. He middle son, Bodhi, is four years old.
Now, the latest picture of Megan’s to get tongues wagging is an innocuous snap of Noah and Bodhi at the beach which she posted on social media.
Sadly, some people have chosen to mom-shame Megan because her sons have long hair.
While there is nothing unusual about men having long hair, let along young boys, strangers decided that they had the right to criticise it.
“Poor darlings they look like they’re wearing wigs!” wrote one user.
“I used to think you had two daughters,” wrote another.
“‘My boys are girls, I’m progressive.’ Yeah progressively assisting suicide and mass delusion,” added a third.
Thankfully, however, not everyone is as judgemental as the people above and others were quick to jump to the actress’ defense.
“Omg! So, based on these comments, having long hair when you’re a boy means you’re really a girl!? Wow! Who knew! Glad to know that Jared Leto, Chris Hemsworth, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Jason Mamoa, Tom Cruise, Harry Styles, Christian Bale and so many others, are or have been girls in the past. Noted. Glad someone cleared that up for me,” wrote one user.
Another commenter rightfully pointed out how problematic it is for people to body-shame children too.
While I don’t know Megan personally, she seems like she’s a great mom who respects her children’s decisions, so I’m pretty sure that if they wanted to have a different hairstyle she’d be cool with it. Get over yourselves and the gender binary, trolls.
